[-ʃna-] Ordensgemeinschaft des Hinduismus, 1897 von Vivekananda, dem bedeutendsten Schüler Ramakrishnas begründet. Heute bestehen neben dem Hauptsitz Belur (bei Haora) in Indien etwa 200 weitere Klöster. Im Sinne des von Ramakrishna gelebten Weges der Bhakti verstehen auch die Mönche ihr Wirken als liebende Hingabe an Gott. Im Indien steht dabei v. a. der soziale Dienst an den Mitmenschen (als Dienst an Gott, der in ihnen wohnt) im Vordergrund. Außerhalb Indiens, besonders in den USA und in Europa, widmet sich die Ramakrishna-Mission der Verbreitung einer dem westlichen Denken angepassten Form der Vedanta-Philosophie.
